Installation

Based on a true story…

On a early morning like any other, on my way to an important meeting (60Km away, at 8:00 a.m.), I discover that someone broke the rear view mirror. It is 7:20 a.m. No repair shop, no any shop open -bauhaus, beauty or toys shop-. Driving without a rear view mirror is neither legal nor safe. What to do? And idea comes up when I realise, that I have a CD and some tape.
Maybe it was not the most elegant solution, but facing it with a lack of prejudice, it was the one that allowed me to drive 60 Kilometers, arrive in time to my meeting and get the contract I was fighting for.

This story took part as a piece of art in the exhibition “Reparaturkultur” (“Culture of Repairing”), in Berlin, organised by Group Global 3000, Arts and other Sustainabilities and curated by Tom Albrecht.

The text in the installation the meaning and the origin or the term “Flickschuster” (“Master of Patches”): Well, what did you expect? You would have to use a mirror… in fact if you use a CD, it would make me very happy.
