\u2018Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima\u2019 by Joe Rosenthal<\/a> from 1945 is one of the most well-known images of patriotism. But what does the \u2018Patria\u2019 in \u2018patriotism\u2019 mean – and to kill and die for Patria – compared to life itself? To what extent do we reflect a nation, rather than a planet? What should we seek to protect, together, as a community?<\/p>\n

I developed this work in 2015 for the exhibition \u2018Kunst der Nachhaltigkeit\u2019(\u2018Art of Sustainability\u2019), organised by GG3 Gallery for sustainable art in Berlin<\/a>.
